Lihir Celebrations for PNG’s 50th Anniversary

Team members from Zenex Drilling joined in with the PNG 50th Anniversary celebrations on Lihir Island recently.

“The mix of culture, celebration and tradition is just fantastic,” said Managing Director Cindy Fick.

“The traditional dancing was a highlight,” she added.

“Zenex Drilling celebrates 30 years operation at the same time the entire nation is coming together to celebrate 50 years of independence,” said Cindy.

“Thank you to the event’s organisers for including us in the festivities,” she said.

“I am proud to be a joint-owner of Zenex Drilling with the Lihir Landowner Group. My husband Wal established this organisation 30 years ago with the Lihir Landowners, and it is my privilege to continue this work today,” said Cindy.

The 50 Years of Independence celebrations on Lihir Island included dancing, speeches, food, music and plenty of sharing stories to mark the occasion.
